Meet Brad Tyrrell & Guna Apsite – Founders, PSP NZ
A Passion for Protection, A Commitment to Quality
At the heart of Premium Surface Protection NZ are Brad Tyrrell and Guna Apsite — a dynamic duo driven by a shared commitment to excellence, innovation, and sustainability.
With a background in premium textile care and an eye for detail, Brad and Guna built their reputation on one core belief: beautiful furnishings deserve protection that lasts. That belief led them to building a company around groundbreaking technology originally introduced to New Zealand through Tony Leask, who imported the best global textile treatment available at the time from America.
Brad worked closely with Tony as he developed a deep knowledge of fibre types and the importance of choosing non-toxic, high-performance solutions.
As the New Zealand business grew, Brad and Guna took the reins, rebranding under the Premium Surface Protection banner to reflect the evolution of the product — and their unwavering dedication to delivering the best in textile and leather care. Today, they exclusively apply PSP’s proprietary protection treatments across residential, commercial, and marine projects throughout New Zealand.
From bespoke homes, boutique hotels and premium shop fitouts to luxury superyachts, Brad and Guna have earned the trust of leading interior designers, architects, and clients who value quality, safety, and service. They are proud to represent PSP’s cutting-edge chemistry — free from PFAS, APEOs and chemicals of concern — ensuring every application is safe for families, pets, guests, and the environment. The company’s proprietary technology, Decorgard is also independently certified by OEKO-TEX®, CleanSeal®, and Woolsafe.
But their passion doesn’t stop at protection.
Recognising the need for specialised care of valuable rugs, Brad and Guna also founded Premium Rug Cleaning, a dedicated rug spa in Auckland. Here, antique, contemporary, and custom-made rugs are expertly cleaned, restored, and fibre protected with PSP’s advanced formulas.
The two businesses work hand in hand to extend the life and beauty of textiles — whether underfoot or upholstered.
